Staten Island Chapter-Knights Of Columbus

In Service To One! In Service To All!

Each month, the Chapter Chairman will post his message in this location.

November's Message From The Chapter Chairman

October was certainly a busy month highlighted by the 41st annual Brotherhood Night at the Staaten.  There were almost 100 Brother Knights from seven councils in attendance.  We certainly made our presence known.  Once again, Bob Conte did a super job putting the event together.  It gives us the opportunity to focus on our common Christian brotherhood and not the differences between the organizations.  I think all will agree that Staten Island is a better place given the contributions made by our organizations.

Perhaps Supreme Knight Carl Anderson said it best at A Summit on Volunteerism:

“Now is the time to reclaim the best of the American spirit and to build a nation of neighbors helping neighbors.  Some in our country, it seems safe to say, lost sight of who their neighbor is.”

We, as Knights, know the answer to that question.  Let us continue as Staten Island Knights to reclaim that spirit and to make it contagious.  Imagine what we can do together as eight councils!

Frank Boccabella, State Right to Life Chairman, spoke about a living rosary at the October Chapter meeting.  I would appreciate your thoughts about how we implement this practice.  One suggestion, how about if each council said a decade of the Rosary before their meeting in January?

Faithful Navigator Tony Russo has been very vocal about the Christian bashing being done by “Curb Your Enthusiasm” as shown on HBO.  We need to make our collective voices heard to HBO and its parent – Time Warner Broadcasting.  Let us not once again be the “silent” majority.  Imagine if it had been another organization?

Chip McLean will be sending out the Christmas seals shortly.  Please ask your council members to participate as they have done in the past.  This is the only major fund raiser carried on by the Chapter.

As we have mentioned at the past few meetings, we will have a joint Christmas party with Assembly on Monday December 21st.  The cost is $10 per person.  Please let Joe or DD John McCue know how many to expect from your Council.  You have my guaranty that the festivities will start early!

I will not be at the November chapter meeting in order to make a financial presentation at the Holy Rosary Parish Council.  Joe Muller will oversee the meeting.  Please accept my best wishes for a healthy and happy Thanksgiving holiday to you and your families.

Remember as always to please pray for all those who have no one else to pray for them.
